Clients Look and Feel their Best at Polished Salon, Spa & Wellness

When Stacie Sheely started Polished Salon, Spa & Wellness in 1998, it was a small nail salon with two employees. Twenty-five years later, it has grown into a full-service, one-stop destination serving the Harrisburg area with hair and nail services, skin and body care, massage, natural wellness services and a medical spa.

“I’ve always had a passion for wanting to help others,” reflects Sheely. “I had never intended for the salon to grow as big is it has. It just happened a little at a time, mostly because others approached me about adding services that they were trained in so they could join the team at Polished. The salon had quickly made a name for itself and they wanted to be part of it.”

Sheely credits their longevity to a mix of hard work and her drive to succeed and praises her staff of service providers for the impeccable and individualized customer service they provide each client.

Polished offers an array of hair services such as cuts, coloring and styling, and several of their hairdressers are sought out for professional photo shoots. Manicures and pedicures may include intricate nail artistry. Skin care and body treatments consists of ultraviolet-free spray tans, permanent makeup, waxing, facials and the M’lis Luxury Contour Body Wrap, which can stimulate the body’s lymphatic system to detox the skin. Sheely notes that their skin-rejuvenating anti-aging treatments and injectable services are currently the most popular.

A medi spa staffed by two nurse practitioners and a registered nurse features enhanced aesthetic services such as laser hair removal and dermaplaning, which exfoliates the epidermis and rids the skin of fine vellus hair, also known as peach fuzz. Massage services include deep tissue, hot stone, lomi lomi and sports massage. Natural wellness services include Beauty Nutrition, which Sheely explains is their philosophy of correcting internal inflammatory issues that can cause external problems acne or rosacea.

“Often, clients need to fix their gut get to the root problem, rather than just mask it with prescriptions or topicals from the doctor,” Sheely explains. “We like to have them do a total body cleanse, perhaps change their diet and try some supplements to see changes. This can be for hair, skin or nails. Even body aches can be related to too much sugar or grains.”

Sheely emphasizes that the entire staff at Polished strives to make every client feel welcome and important, and receive value for money by thoroughly explaining the use of products during a service. They also take the extra time to discuss home care so clients can continue to maintain their skin or hair at home. “I can’t say enough about my staff. Most of them have been with me for more than 10 years,” Sheely says. “They all take pride in their work, they’re passionate about their jobs and have built a rapport with their clients. Continuing education is something that is important and expected. It allows the staff to always offer the most up-to-date experience to their clients.”

Polished participates in local fundraisers by donating gift cards or gift baskets for events. Sheely is passionate about helping the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). In 2019, her substantial fundraising efforts for the Central Pennsylvania LLS chapter earned her Woman of The Year through LLS.

Helping clients look their best also helps them feel their best, Sheely observes. She takes pride in seeing someone transform through a pedicure, new hairstyle or skin rejuvenation, which often boosts their self-esteem. “I love the interaction with the customers. After being in business for 25 years, a lot of the customers have become like family. They love us as much as we love them.”
