Natural Awakenings South Central Pennsylvania

Pawpaw Festival at Horn Farm Center

The Horn Farm Center for Agricultural Education and Explore York (yorkpa.org) will present the 19th annual York County Pawpaw Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., September 23 and 24. All proceeds support the center’s land stewardship and education programs.

The outdoor, family-friendly event will feature pawpaw fruit and pawpaw trees to purchase, as well as educational talks, family-friendly tours, and pawpaw orchard walks on the Horn Farm’s regenerative landscape. Visitors will also enjoy local and regional food vendors, native plant nurseries, artisans and community organizations, all in celebration of the wild and uncommon of York County, Pennsylvania.

The Susquehanna Region’s unique and nutritious pawpaw is the largest edible fruit native to the eastern United States. Fruiting from late September to mid-October, they grow abundantly in forests across the region.
