Horn Farm Center Converts Farmhouse to Educational Center

The nonprofit Horn Farm Center is rebuilding an 1840s farmhouse damaged by fire into an educational
center for residents of York and Lancaster counties. Executive Director Alexis
Campbell states that they have been running programs for hundreds of local
residents outdoors on dozens of topics related to regenerative farming,
ecology, growing food and generally reconnecting with the land. “Our
instructors and community have done wonderfully, but it will be amazing to
triple our capacity for education, and do so no matter what the temperature or
weather is outside!”
The final price tag is $1.4 million. Although $1.2 million has been raised so far and the first two phases of the project, design and construction, are complete, the organization must raise more money for occupancy and outfitting the building for operations before it can open. The final phase will be post-construction site work and beautification such as landscaping, hardscaping, a rain garden and rain catchment cisterns.
