Reconnect With Nature and Art at Expansive Outdoor Sanctuary

The Bower, a native plant landscape and sculpture park, in Shermans Dale, is now open to the public for the 2026 season through October 17, 2026. Visitors are invited to explore the 36-acre meadow and woodland sanctuary Wednesdays through Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for self-guided visits without an appointment.

Located on the northern slope of the Appalachian Mountains in Perry County, approximately 30 minutes from Harrisburg, the property blends native plants, open landscapes and woodlands with large-scale sculpture and land art. Designed as a space where art and nature coexist harmoniously, the property features both wild and introduced native plantings throughout the grounds.

In addition to self-guided visits, group tours and school field trips may be arranged through the website. Four children’s workshops will also be offered June through August.

Admission is free, although donations and volunteers are welcomed to help support the ongoing preservation and programming of the site.

Location: 1190 Bower Rd., Shermans Dale. For more information, visit TheGardenBower.com.
